For workshops and suppliers
Drawings to manufacture from, even when your customer only sends the STEP
If you received a Design2Factory link, a customer has shared the documentation of a job with you. And if you receive 3D models without drawings, you can get them yourself: dimensioned, with a title block and ready to quote and manufacture.
The link
If you received a link
A customer has prepared the documentation of a job and shared it with you. It opens without an account and without installing anything.
- You see the 3D model and, if your customer allows it, you can measure on it.
- You get the parts list with each reference, material, finish and quantity.
- You see the drawings and, if your customer allows it, download the PDF and DXF files, including the sheet metal flat pattern for cutting.
- The link expires and has a limited number of openings: whoever sends it decides what it includes and for how long. Your customer’s original STEP is never handed over.
Your models
Do you receive STEP files without drawings?
Many customers only send the model. With an account you upload it as you received it and Design2Factory draws each part, without anybody drawing by hand.
- You upload STEP, STP, STL models, on their own or in an archive (ZIP, RAR, 7Z) with several parts.
- You choose the sheet, standard, scale and views; the drawing comes out dimensioned and with your title block.
- You download PDF, DXF, SVG; for sheet metal, the flat pattern for cutting as well.
- If you laser cut, you nest the parts on your own sheet sizes.
Does your workshop use a personal email, such as Gmail or Hotmail? You can sign up too: we review the request by hand and write to that email.
Your customers
Ask your customers for documentation this way
When a customer sends you documentation through Design2Factory you get a single link with everything together —model, drawings and cutting files for each part, with its material and quantity— instead of loose email attachments. If you want them to send it this way, forward them this message.
Hello, To quote and manufacture your parts it helps us a lot to receive the complete documentation: the 3D model, the dimensioned drawings and the cutting files for each part, with its material and quantity. With Design2Factory you can get the drawings from your 3D models automatically and share a single link with us with everything together, without loose attachments: https://design2factory.com/en?utm_source=talleres&utm_medium=recomendacion&utm_campaign=prescriptor Best regards.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need an account to open a shared link?
- No. The link opens without an account and without installing anything. Whoever sends it decides what you can see or download and for how long.
- Can I download the STEP file from the link?
- No. The link shows the 3D model to view and measure, but your customer’s original STEP is never handed over. Drawings and cutting files only if your customer has allowed it.
- What do I do if the link no longer works?
- Ask whoever sent it for a new one. Links expire, have a maximum number of openings and can be withdrawn, to protect your customer’s documentation.
- Can I sign up with a personal email?
- Yes. With your company email the sign-up is direct; with a personal one, such as Gmail or Hotmail, we review the request by hand and write to that email so you can set your password.
- Which files can I upload myself?
- STEP, STP, STL models, on their own or inside an archive (ZIP, RAR, 7Z). Drawings come out as PDF, DXF, SVG.
